Porters Ski Trip

Not long ago we went to Porters for school skiing. I started on the learners slope and I ended up on the T bar and T one. It was fun and really speedy. The T bar was my favourite. My second time on the t bar was really unexpected, my ski fell off and also a big boulder came down big mumma at the same time. I was with my friends Neve and Klaudia most of the time. Best skiing day ever! by Ruby! On the 16th of August we had our school ski trip. It was my firt time skiing so e had to go to the lesson on the bigginers slope. We played a game called traffic light. It's a game when she says green you go straght down the hill and when she says orange we do a little pizza and when she says red you do a full pizza. ThMe mum took me dowm the pomma. When we were waiting in line Ruby's Dad Pat came up and said I will wait for you over at the t bar. Then ruby was like "oh no I dont want to" but she ended up going down it. Then mum said she will take me down the t bar because she thought I was ready and the line was massive. We took Holly up the t bar because she wanted to come. I am just warning you to never go up the t bar with Keegan (My brother) because he cuts you off and you will fall off. by Klaudia

Porter Heights Ski Trip

Olympic Day

On Friday we had an Olympic day. We had lots of fun competing in our house groups. We also made flags and had a parade. The winning house was the Angels.

The Recycling Circus

On Friday afternoon we were very lucky to be entertained by the 'Recycling Circus'. They juggled balls, hoops and skittles and performed incredible gymnastic acts. They were very talented performers and we all loved their show.

Rippa Rugby at Kokatahi

On Friday we played rippa rugby at Kokatahi.Everybody had a good game. We really appreciated the parents who helped organize and support us as we had an enjoyable and competitive afternoon.

Chess Tournament

On Thursday Caleb, Reuben and Harrison competed in a chess tournament.

West Coast Cross Country

Yesterday Caleb, Dennis, Harrison, Kirk, Klaudia, Gretta and Leila went to Kumara to compete in the West Coast Cross Country.

Rippa Rugby

Last Friday we went to Hokitika Primary school to play Rippa Rugby. We played against Kokatahi and Hokitika Primary school.

Our Cross Country

We had our Cross Country on Tuesday. We had to run along the Herritage Trail, under the bridge, down to Sunset Point and finish near the Beach House. In the 9 year boys Dennis was 1st, Harrison 2nd, and Kirk 3rd. In the 9 year girls Klaudia was 1st, Gretta 2nd and Leila 3rd. In the 10 year boys Leyton 1st, and Caleb 2nd.

Kahurangi Dance

We watched the Kahurangi Dance group perform some Maori songs and dances for us. Their performance was awesome.

Shantytown Science

When we went to Shantytown we did lots of science challenges. We made paper boats and tested them in the stream. We also made a waterwheel with a potato. Bug hunting and gold panning were lots of fun. We also had to make a marshmallow launcher which was our hardest challenge. We all enjoyed our day at Shantytown.

ASB Visitor Holly

The Bell rang, lunch time was over. The ASB Lady was coming. Frist she told us her name was Holly, funny my name is Holly also. Then she showed us her gigantic ch..ch..ch ching sign (money sign) and said how we could earn money. This is some ways - do the paper run, chores and start a garage sale. You can earn money by doing nothing. What you do is put your money in the bank and they will put interest in it. Then Holly told us a story of where to keep your money. At the end she gave as all wrist bands that said on then ASB bank spend some on you and save some too By Holly.

A$B

Yesterday ASB came to school. We learnt how to save money in a safe place. The bank is one of the safest places. Also if you save money you get interest which gives you money. We got a bracelet. By Reuben

Yesterday Holly from ASB came to school. She told us about money and saving it. She made a budget and how to earn money. She told us to keep our money. By Leila

ASB Get Wise Visitor

On Wednesday the 2nd of May the ASB Getwise came to St Mary's. They told us how to save money and how to keep money like in a bank, a money box or under your bed. They told us stories about money. They gave us tbands that say 'ASB Getwise, spend some on you but save some too.' By Caleb. Yesderday an ASB lady came and she talked about how to have a lot of money when I am year 12. We should keep it under our bed or in a money box or at the bank. The ASB lady got Liam and Libby up and gave them a flip pad and they started saving at year 6, and at year 9 their fried Robert came up. At year 12 they had their money. Liam had $4646 and Libby had $4648 and Robert had $2470. By Jaime.

Yesterday Holly fron ASB came and told us about money. She told us how to save money. Then she taught us a song about saving money. It was cool. By Ethan

Blunt

Yesterday I went to the skatepark with Jack and Robert. I did a grind up on the box and I landed it. I tail whipped up the bomb. I also did a 360 up the bomb. By Silas

We learnt how to swing the golf club. We used flags at the start. We used a large ball, a tennis ball and a golf ball.

The golf one was of the best things we did in term 1. And I hope the golf at Hokitka golf course in term 2 will be fun. By Caleb & Anna.
